Winner of a Teddy Award at the 2011 Berlin Film Festival, director-writer Benjamin Cantu’s feature debut follows a simple, organic, and sweet coming-of-age romance between two apprentice farmers, set against the gorgeous backdrop of Brandenburg, Germany. Teenage Marco, a loner, is uncertain if he wants to become a farmer, just weeks before his final exams. Enter Jacob, a new farm apprentice who befriends Marco while navigating the unfamiliar environment. Cleverly avoiding obvious clichés, HARVEST instead portrays their young love flourishing through the most mundane farm activities. Cantu’s realistic and natural storytelling recaptures the innocence lost in modern gay cinema.
