THE SISTERHOOD is a fascinating documentary about Pietie, Hope, and Rollie, three young friends who work as farmhands in the vineyards of South Africa by day and become drag divas by night. They dream of winning the local drag pageant, having their own vineyard, and one day finding love and being accepted by society (although the national government is supportive of gays and lesbians). Ironically, while they face localized prejudice for being gay, their glamorous alter egos are widely embraced. This slice of life offers a moving portrait of struggle and triumph.
